These towering structures, up to 15 meters high, are built using natural materials like bamboo, wood, and palm fibers. Each Mbaru Niang has five levels, serving different purposes:

Second level: Food storage
Third level: Seed preservation
Fourth level: Emergency food supplies
Fifth level: Ancestral offerings and sacred objects

Wae Rebo Village is not just a tourist destination, but a living community where traditions are preserved and passed down through generations. The village was recognized by UNESCO in 2012 for its cultural significance and efforts to preserve traditional architecture.

Visiting Wae Rebo:

To experience this unique cultural heritage, visitors can trek to the village, approximately 3-4 hours from Denge Village. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with a traditional Waelu’u ceremony, asking permission from ancestors to enter the village.
